What is Hope4Hickory?

Hope4Hickory is an outreach ministry of the Tabernacle Baptist Church dedicated to proclaiming the hope found in the Gospel of Christ and offering encouragement and support to those in need. Through intentional efforts to build strong connections within our community by serving alongside like-minded ministries and organizations, we aim to show Christ-like compassion to those who are hurting most vulnerable.

Ladies of Grace

Widows Fellowship

Ladies of Grace is a monthly fellowship designed to encourage, connect, and strengthen widows as they navigate life together. Through meaningful conversations, shared experiences, creative activities, special guests, and times of fellowship, Ladies of Grace provides a welcoming place to build friendships, find encouragement, and grow in faith. Together, we seek to celebrate God's faithfulness, encourage one another through every season, and discover the joy and purpose He has for each of us. Our desire is to remind every woman that she is deeply loved by God, valued by others, and never alone as she continues to walk with Him and live with grace and purpose.

Join us the third Tuesday of each month at 2pm at the Graceful Geese Mercantile at the Hickory Furniture Mart.

Testimonials
Dan Dixon
"I’ve had the opportunity to serve with Hope4Hickory at the Salvation Army and Strong Life, and both experiences have been so meaningful. My motivation was simple—I just wanted to serve others in the community. What I found was that giving my time in these ways made me more aware of the real needs around us, and it also made me more grateful for the blessings God has given me. The most fulfilling part was simply being able to serve others, to show up and share kindness in practical ways. It reminded me that even small acts of service can leave a lasting impact."

"I had the chance to help bake for the graduation at Sipe’s Orchard Home, and it was such a meaningful experience. I love baking, so being able to use that gift to serve others felt natural and fulfilling. Standing for so long wasn’t easy, but it was worth it to prepare something special for the kids. My heart went out to them—knowing how much they’ve already been through at such a young age. Even though they were quiet and reserved with me, I could see the bond they shared with their instructors, which was encouraging. The best part for me was simply baking the food and serving it, knowing that in some small way I was able to contribute.”

"Most of my volunteer opportunities with Hope4Hickory have been on campus activities, and I also had the chance to serve breakfast at Strong Life. What motivates me is simply wanting to serve and being grateful for opportunities that I can take part in. Even in small ways—like helping an elderly woman get her coffee—it felt good to know I was helping someone who might be struggling. The most fulfilling part was seeing how, when many hands come together, a big task can be accomplished quickly and effectively. It’s encouraging to know that the work really is needed and that it helps others. I just want to go where I can be best utilized and make a difference."

"I was able to serve at the NC Boys Academy through Hope4Hickory, and it turned out to be such a rewarding experience. I went in simply wanting to help others, but what I didn’t expect was how deeply I’d feel a connection with the boys there. Spending time working alongside them and interacting with them left a real impact on me, and it confirmed in my heart that I want to continue volunteering with the academy in the future. The most fulfilling part was seeing their openness as we worked together and knowing that even small acts of service can make a difference in the lives of troubled youth. It gave me a renewed desire to be involved in opportunities that invest in young people who need encouragement and support.”

"Through Hope4Hickory, I’ve been able to serve in so many different ways—delivering Love Bags to shut-ins, serving meals at Strong Life, helping at the Salvation Army, planting pinwheels at Zahra Baker Park, joining community events, visiting local ministries, and even helping with graduations and workdays. Each opportunity reminded me that even the smallest act of kindness can make a real difference. My motivation has always been for Jesus to be known and to live out a desire to make a difference, but along the way I’ve gained so much myself—more knowledge, humility, gratitude, and a deeper passion to serve. The most fulfilling part is seeing how leaders and the people they serve are genuinely touched by even the simplest effort. It’s a beautiful reminder that showing up with a willing heart can truly matter in someone else’s life.”
